Building Fences, Building Faith

Sneaking this update in right at the last minute before summer! Much has been accomplished this spring, so buckle up.

Another school year in the books! I finished my ninth year of teaching. ICA also has a new principal (not me, as I stepped away from that at role). She’s going to do a great job! Since I am not doing the summer administrative work for school anymore, I will be doing Pygmy Post over summer – some at Pygmy Post and some at my house! Pray that I do this well and communicate the love of Christ to these precious little children.

Our little one is five months old now! He’s also massive; he’s on track to outgrow his brother, who isn’t exactly small himself. He loves people, he’s always moving (though not usually forward), and he wants to try food SO badly!

Our oldest is two and a half! He loves telling people that it was his half birthday. He also loves his brother (sometimes aggressively) and working with Brad on anything and everything. Brad was working on a project and told our son that he was serving Jesus. Our son pondered this for a moment and said, “I serve Jesus too?” It was a sweet reminder that our lives and testimonies are a constant example to our children. He has also been working on memorizing Bible verses, saying his full name and address, and retelling Bible stories.

We had quick, back to back visits from Brad’s parents and my parents. It was fun for my parents to meet the baby and Brad’s parents to see how much he had changed. We also spent part of our break this past week with Brad’s parents in the Monterey area. Both boys have loved having so much time with grandparents!

Monterey! The ocean is a great opportunity to learn about God.
I am so thankful for the many years of play this fence will allow our family!

We have a fence! We hired a few people to help with some of the process of building it. I am so thankful because the boys have a safe space to play!

Our church celebrated 20 years of ministry with a pig roast! It was a unique and delicious experience. We are so thankful for Life Point for so many reasons. God has been kind to us and to His church.

Camp was given 20+ pallets of “lightly used” carpet. One of Brad’s jobs was to help sort through it and figure out what was usable for cabins and other facility usage and what was not. What was not will be used by the program team around camp at many of the activity areas.

We have officially entered the season of life in which we get sick often. Our oldest somehow did not really get sick for the first eighteen months of his life. That has not been the case with this baby. Please pray that we would stay healthy through summer.

What was once a run-down modular building is now R2, a nice, dorm-style cabin that will be used to house Leadership Live. This project took up much of Brad’s spring. He and his crew finished it just in time for it to be cleaned on the last camp prep of the off-season!

Also, Brad is now the Facility Director! In his words, more responsibility and ways to get in trouble 😂 In reality, this is evidence of his dedication, diligence, and willingness to learn and serve God with his talents. I’m proud to be his wife!

Prayer Requests

  • Wisdom and grace to keep the Gospel central in parenting
  • Health and strength for summer
  • Brad has many projects, big and small, to work on over summer (job security!); pray for him and his crew

Praises

  • A fruitful off season with two salvations that we know of!
  • Our son’s tender heart and interest in spiritual things
  • We might have a tree! One potential survivor of our five clippings.

KIDS CORNER

We think our kids are part of our mission while they’re here in our home. Here’s what they wanted to tell you!

Toddler says, “ebellalodeskfls” and knocks over blocks. When asked what he likes about living here: “My house, my house, my house… Saws. My excavator.”

Baby says, “mmmm uffff eglb” in frustration as he desperately tries to crawl.

We would love to hear from you!
